Private Practice

In addition to his work as an NHS consultant, Dr Yuk-ki Wong also offers private consultations. The scope of his private work is the same as his NHS work and is based at the Chichester Suite, St. Richard's Hospital, Chichester. The Chichester Suite and St. Richard's Hospital provides a comprehensive range of non-invasive and invasive facilities for cardiology.

Dr Wong is a General Cardiologist treating patients with a wide range of conditions including heart failure, coronary disease, arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation, valvular heart disease, hyperlipidaemia, cardiomyopathy and hypertension. Some patients such as pilots and racing drivers are seen because they need health checks or investigations for regulatory reasons. Other patients are interested in screening. For instance, they may have a high cholesterol and are keen to know their cardiovascular risk and whether they should be prescribed a statin.

All new patients and previous patients presenting with new problems are given a one hour appointment in order that a thorough assessment can be made and to allow sufficient time for a detailed discussion. Follow up appointments are usually 30 minutes in duration.

Further information is available by contacting his secretary or by sending a message.

Efficiency, Quality and Customer Experience

Dr Wong is recognised by BUPA as providing a higher quality and cost efficient service with a better customer experience.

He is part of the BUPA Open Referral Network. As mentioned above, his practice is based at the Chichester Suite, St. Richad's Hospital rather than the Chichester Nuffield Hospital.

Cost of Initial Outpatient Appointment

It is now a legal requirement for patients to be given a letter regarding fees ahead of their initial outpatient appointment (Competition & Markets Authority Article 22 Requirements). A copy of this letter can be viewed and downloaded from here.

Annual Appraisal

The Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) website provides information about the quality of private treatment offered by hospitals and other private healthcare providers.

All licensed doctors who practise medicine in the UK must revalidate and take part in annual appraisal.

In order to provide data that is more comprehensive than that available on PHIN, the information below is from Dr Wong’s annual appraisals. For procedures such as cardiac catheterisation and pacemaker implantation, the data refers to both his NHS and private work.
